Methodology for promoting the policies of shared responsibility in companies

The Rights Factory and Farapi-Evident:is have together developed a project which promotes co-responsibility of businesses in order to maximize their contribution to society and that of the people that make them up, in order to enhance the sustainability of life in the territory. The project raises questions about the role of business in society and in the sustainable development of the territory from the perspective of shared social responsibility. This is ideal for those companies who are considering embarking on the journey towards social responsibility or who are seeking to innovate or renew their current social responsibility policies.

CHALLENGE:

Caring for human life is a responsibility shared by all stakeholders, be they public or private, individual or collective. This responsibility is however not always accepted. The capitalist production system has managed to divorce itself from any duty for caring for life. That said, can anyone deny the importance of the care work that is performed outside the workplace and is linked to the sustainability of life, so as to enable people to become the “human capital” that the productive system requires?

We need a new model that creates mutual value and offers answers to the most basic needs of people without discrimination of any kind, and is based on the acceptance by all stakeholders, public and private, individual and collective, of this shared responsibility, and of the roles and functions that arise from it, and with rights and obligations for all of us. Society cannot progress and be sustainable without co-responsibility.

And what can we in the business field do? What is the responsibility of businesses if we consider them as more than just economic agents?

ACTION:

Without forgetting that businesses need to be sustainable and profitable, and trying to provide a differentiated approach in the analysis of reality and the design of social responsibility strategies, we have devised this tool-guide to promote the co-responsibility role of businesses in order to maximize their social contribution and that of the people that make them up to enhancing the sustainability of life in the territory.

This is an innovative tool which raises questions about the role of business in society and in the sustainable development of the territory from a perspective of shared social responsibility. This is ideal for those businesses who are considering embarking on the journey towards social responsibility or who are seeking to innovate or renew their current social responsibility policies. To this end it takes into consideration all those stakeholders with whom the Person interrelates (spouse/partner, children, dependent people, community, public services, company, service providers…) and their direct and indirect impact on the care and sustainability of life.

BENEFITS:

The Methodology enables businesses to identify the real needs of the people they employ and of others that are around them (their stakeholders).

This Methodology enables businesses to design and develop measures that contribute to improving the quality of life of the people they employ and of their domestic groups, enhancing the well-being of society as a whole.

The measures identified by businesses are in step with their business Mission, so creating new innovation opportunities and thereby guaranteeing their own sustainability.

The processes released in this way and the different actions taken have notable benefits in terms of the motivation, loyalty and commitment of employed people.

By implementing this Methodology, businesses improve their social reputation as responsible brands and create feelings of affinity within the community.
